An Integrated, Multidisciplinary Approach
Treatment at The McCarton Center
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) | Speech and Language Therapy | Occupational Therapy
The ABA therapists who work at the McCarton Center are dedicated to bringing meaningful change to the lives of children with developmental disabilities. Our therapists are trained to meet the needs of students of a variety of ages and abilities.
Educational and behavioral interventions are guided by the best practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Applied Behavior Analysis is the science in which procedures derived from the principles of behavior are systematically applied to improve socially significant behavior to a meaningful degree and to demonstrate experimentally that the procedures employed were responsible for the improvement in behavior.
Every learner's therapy is individually created. Our learners receive 1:1 highly individualized ABA instruction. A learner's goals are specified by thorough assessment, ongoing data collection and data-driven decision making. The teaching methods used at the McCarton Center include:
- Shaping
- Task Analysis/Chaining
- Discrete Trial Instruction
- Natural Environment Training
- Incidental Teaching
- Functional Analysis
- Antecedent Interventions
Our ABA therapists work closely with our Speech and Occupational therapists to create well-rounded multidisciplinary programs.
The McCarton Center places great value on the role family members play in a learners success. Our ABA therapists work closely with the families of our learners to provide them with the skills necessary to create an appropriate home environment for their children. We are focused on improving the quality of life for our learners and their families.
